Arsenal are said to be close to signing Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas after ‘making him an offer that he can’t refuse’.
Casillas has been heavily linked with a switch to the Gunners in the last few months and reports emerged yesterday that the club had made an offer to sign him.
And now Sport newspaper says the deal is close with the 33-year-old being told that he can leave Madrid in the coming days, or face the prospect of being third-choice.
The paper says Arsenal’s offer is ‘too good to refuse’ and the only major detail left now is for Casillas to have his Madrid contract terminated, making him a free agent.
Arsene Wenger is said to be offering him a deal worth £100,000-a-week that could run for the next five seasons, meaning he would be 38 by the time it expires.
